Kandy, also the second largest city of Sri Lanka is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Sri Lanka. Kandy’s stardom is so widespread for it’s sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession.
Sigiriya, one of the most valuable historical monuments in Sri Lanka, also listed as UNESCO World Heritage site is an ancient rock fortress built by King Kasyapa who ruled from 477 to 495 CE.
